Create a project

Each Pages project is one website with its own address, its own brand settings, and up to five pages.

Create the project

Open Pages in the dashboard

Sign in to Deep Woods. In the sidebar, open Projects → Pages. You'll see a card for each project you already have, plus an Add a new landing page card.

Start a new project

Click Add a new landing page. If you don't have a Pages plan yet, you'll be asked to choose one first. If the card says Plan limit reached, your plan has no room for another project. Click it to see upgrade options.

Name it

Enter a Name, then click Create Landing Page. Only you and your team see this name; visitors don't. You can change it later.

Wait for setup

Deep Woods builds two things for the new project:

  • Your site: what visitors will see.
  • Editor: where you'll edit your pages.

This usually takes a few minutes. You can leave the page, and setup keeps running. When you come back, the project page will be ready.

If setup shows Taking longer than usual, it's still running, and busy periods can add a few minutes. If it shows Something went wrong setting up your site, contact support and we'll finish setting it up for you.

Your project's dashboard page

Open a project from Projects → Pages to manage it.

The toolbar

The buttons at the top only appear when they apply.

ButtonWhat it does
Edit siteOpens your site in a new tab with Studio, the visual editor. It reads Setting up… until the editor is ready.
Create PreviewAppears when you've published changes in Studio that haven't been previewed yet. It builds a private preview of your latest changes.
View PreviewOpens the preview site in a new tab.
PublishAppears when a preview has changes your live site doesn't have yet. It makes the preview your live site.
View LiveOpens your live site. If you've connected a custom domain and it's verified, this uses your domain.

Below the toolbar, a message tells you the next step, for example "You have new edits that haven't been checked in a preview yet. Click Create Preview to check them before publishing."

Badges

Next to the project name:

  • Type: Landing Page (one page), Microsite (two to five pages), Over Limit (more than five pages, and the project needs Managed Apps before it can publish), or App Tier (more than five pages, and the project has been upgraded to Managed Apps).
  • Status: Draft until you publish for the first time, then Published.

Site status

The Site status card shows the state of each version of your site:

RowWhat it shows
Editing (N pages)The version you edit in Studio, and how many pages it has.
PreviewThe latest preview.
Live siteWhat visitors see.

Each row shows one of: Ready, Updating… (a build is running), Not published yet, or Not set up yet.

Settings

The Settings card holds dashboard-level settings for the project:

  • Project Name: the name you gave it at creation.
  • Custom Domain: your own domain, such as www.example.com. See Custom domains.

Click Save settings after changing either one.

Your site's name as visitors see it, along with your logo, colors, fonts, and navigation, isn't set here. Those live in Studio's Settings. See Brand & site settings.

Form Settings

The Form Settings card connects an email service (SendGrid, Resend, Postmark, or any service with SMTP details) so the forms you build in Studio can email you each submission. Click Connect email, choose your service, and enter its details. Deep Woods checks them and updates your site, which takes a minute or two. Saved keys and passwords are never shown again. To change one, enter it again. See Get submissions by email.

Delete a project

Delete project at the bottom of the page removes the project. If the project has a live address, that address is removed too. Deleted projects can usually be recovered for 7 days. Contact support if you need one back.

If you don't see Delete project, your role in the organization doesn't allow deleting projects. Ask an organization admin.
